Romanian Painting from the Collection of the Bonte Foundation (14/02 - 30/04/2017)
Presented in 2016 at the Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon, the exhibition complements the Museum’s collections offering a fresh perspective on Romanian painting from the 1870s to the 1940s as discovered by Portuguese businessman and collector Alain Bonte.
“The fact that the Art Collections Museum will temporarily exhibit part of the Bonte Foundation’s collection reflects our commitment to facilitate access to valuable art collections and to highlight the importance of collectors in the public life of artworks. It also showcases Mr. Alain Bonte’s generosity. Like us, Mr Bonte considers that the privilege of enjoying art should be shared with the wider audience.” (Călin Stegerean, General Director, NMAR).
The exhibition is organized by the National Museum of Art of Romania in partnership with the Bonte Foundation and the Romanian Cultural Institute and sheds light on a foreign collector’s perspective on Romanian art.
Special guided tours and activities will complement the exhibition.
